2008-04-10 [Delladreing]: I'm torn between "yay Lee Scoresby and the bear Iorek Byrnison ^_^" and "please don't let it be like the last book..." Either way, I am totally getting that after work today :P

2008-04-11 [Nikeathene]: Oh Pullman wrote the golden compass right?

2008-04-11 [Delladreing]: Yes.

2008-04-15 [Keii]: For any Harry Potter fans, amazon is holding the Beedle the Bard Ballad Writing Contest. Winners get to go to London to see the book; http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/feature.html/ref=pe_11671_10618691_fe_exp_1/?docId=1000166753

2008-04-18 [Linn Scarlett]: Cool *cheers* but I am too busy with my pathetic fanfic i fear XD also, the last book of the Eragon-books came out recently

2008-04-18 [Linn Scarlett]: Oh, and perhaps not literary news in its true meaning, but there will be a movie about Edgar Allan Poe's life in 2009. Or so it is rumored. With yours truely, Viggo Mortensen (Aragorn) as Poe. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001557/ ^_^

2008-04-18 [Duke Devlin]: Yours truly? oO

2008-04-18 [Linn Scarlett]: *bows* that man is the god of all things above 40 and dead sexy

2008-04-18 [Duke Devlin]: He is nifty, yes. But Yours trly doesn't work there. :P <3

2008-04-18 [Linn Scarlett]: It's a figure of speech we use in dutch ;) it's ok if it doesn't make sense in english :P its close to 'the one and only' only , well better XD

2008-04-18 [Duke Devlin]: I see.. I thought it was only used in letters, or when references oneself. :P

2008-04-18 [Linn Scarlett]: Or when one referances a well known persons (or at least, we do so here) :p

2008-04-18 [Duke Devlin]: Ahh strange country. D:

2008-04-18 [Linn Scarlett]: Or yours is ;)

2008-04-18 [Duke Devlin]: Nope.. UK is right. :P >:)

2008-04-18 [Linn Scarlett]: You drive on the wrong side of the road, nuff said :P

2008-04-18 [Duke Devlin]: Nah. I think it's something to do with Napolean.. Or someone else.. But it's their fault.. And we were driving carts first! :P So we don't.

2008-04-18 [Linn Scarlett]: Yeah, the world got it wrong don't they <3 *throws cheese cake in your face* :p

2008-04-18 [Delladreing]: Driving in general is insanity. So everyone apart from me is mad *nods*

2008-04-18 [Duke Devlin]: ... >> We did it to be different, if I recall. So go to hell. :P
And TRUE! I don't drive.. So therefore.. I am not mad. :P

2008-04-18 [windowframe]: Oi, I don't drive either. Urgh, Poe. -.- Lovecraft ftw. and Viggo is too sexy to play that sallow, deluded man.

2008-04-18 [Duke Devlin]: XD
I know nothing really of Mr Edgar. XD

2008-04-18 [Linn Scarlett]: *nod nod* I agree on that point silvie, I fear Poe shall have a sexyness that overrides the historical character's gloomyness. Then again, I have seen Viggo play depressed roles like that, and it made me cry. Because he has puppy eyes, and they go all watery when he's sad and its horrid *sniffles*

2008-04-18 [windowframe]: He thought his poetry was better than his prose. It's not. It's really, really not. He thought he could write stuff other that macabre stories. He couldn't, he really, really couldn't.

2008-04-18 [Linn Scarlett]: I have is collected work, I sort of like the stories, actually. Well some of them anyway. And I like the poem about the raven, I so wanna hear Viggo say "quoth the raven, never more"

2008-04-18 [windowframe]: :P I read everything of his bar a few letters. And I do like macabre short stories - The Fall of the House of Usher, the Masque of the Red Death, Lilgeia, Berenice, Eleonora and Morella were all enjoyable. But when he starts writing about gardens... God so help me I will build a time machine and prevent him from writing those.

2008-04-18 [Duke Devlin]: The Raven is the only one of his poems that I have ever heard of, I believe. And I think that is more due to it's popularity - and generally people's lack of knowledge for his others. :P And I dislike it to be honest.

2008-04-18 [Linn Scarlett]: Oh yes, but you should read ooohhh whats its name *thumbs* 'the murders in the Rue Morgue' and the 'tell-tale heart' i liked those :) And viggo has the perfect recite-voice. I hope he gets some dramatic monologue *feigns fainting*

2008-04-18 [windowframe]: The Allan Parson's Project Album based around Poe is worth a listen (in my opinion). Has songs based around The Raven, the Fall of the House of Usher,The system of Doctor Tarr and Professor Feather, The Cask of Amontillado and another poem the name of which escapes me at the moment, but the well-known line from it is "all that we see or seem is but a dream within a dream". And it's called *drum-roll* 'Dream within a Dream". :D The album itself is called "Tales of Mystery and Imagination"

2008-04-18 [Linn Scarlett]: isn't that A Dream within a Dream?

2008-04-18 [Linn Scarlett]: Oh wait, you said so *needs to learn to read first and type later*

2008-04-18 [Duke Devlin]: .. She added that bit after I think. :O

2008-04-18 [windowframe]: Yeah, I did. Went and did a quick check. Sorry, I'm a bit of a comment-edit whore. :P

2008-04-18 [Duke Devlin]: Hehe sly. :)
I do the same thing. :P

2008-04-18 [Linn Scarlett]: Hm very sly indeed :O

2008-04-18 [windowframe]: :O I don't see you having voted on 30 Books! Go vote. :D

2008-04-18 [Linn Scarlett]: whadddidadoooo?

2008-04-18 [Delladreing]: Poe = over excagerated. The only reason a lot of youngins know about him is because of the Simpsons halloween special episode that depicted the Crow.

2008-04-18 [Duke Devlin]: I have. *proud* :O
Exactly. I agree with that, but my knowledge wasn't due to the Simpsons. :) Just.. Wait I don't even know. D:

2008-04-18 [Delladreing]: Just general knowledge really :p
But yah, most of them probably never even heard of it till Homer Simpson was tormented by Bart crowing "Never more never more!"

2008-04-18 [Duke Devlin]: Ahh very true, and very likely. -___-

2008-04-22 [Linn Scarlett]: I had english literature classes :/ we read his stuff along with Oscar Wilde's and such

2008-04-22 [Linn Scarlett]: Still, I rather like the poem *ominously* "quoth the raven: never more"

2008-04-22 [Duke Devlin]: I had English Literature classes too, but we focused on other stuff. :O

2008-04-22 [Linn Scarlett]: well we sort of focussed on literature? Though I am beginning to suspect I was the only one actually reading the stuff

2008-04-22 [sequeena_rae]: In my literature class we focused on Dickens :[

2008-04-22 [Linn Scarlett]: Ew :/

2008-04-22 [Linn Scarlett]: I don't like fog. Unless there's a little child running through it. And suddenly, he sees a shape up ahead. It's an older man, stark grey hair wearing a bretan cap that hides his eyes. He's smiling. The boy cries for help because of what he thinks is following him. The man still smiles... REVEALING BLOODY CANINE FANGS. :3

2008-04-23 [iippo]: The amounts of potato and dust in Grapes of Wrath almost put me off reading the book til the end, but the end saved it, so I'm glad I finished and now I look back on it with fondness (but won't be reading it again anytime soon :P)

2008-04-23 [Linn Scarlett]: Hmm I've the same with a certain dutch-german writer his stuff. It just makes me fall asleep because its all (to me) needless info inbetween the brilliant story. Making the book long and boring.

2008-04-23 [Triola]: Hehe, I had the same feeling with Sophie's World the first time I read it :P

2008-04-24 [Linn Scarlett]: I never fit into it :/

2008-04-24 [Linn Scarlett]: well not usually XD

2008-08-13 [Mordigen]: *snorts* Does this mean I get to add info about myself ? XD  </shameless-selfpromotion>

2008-08-13 [Mordigen]: lol :P well I was teasing, I coudln't be that overbearingly egotistical

2008-08-13 [Mordigen]: mm...true. Plus, being a part of the forums on my publishers site -- I can pay attention to fellow-first-time authors' release dates, and help get some of the lil people a lil more spotlight :)

2008-12-06 [Hedda]: Forest Ackerman has died.
He was an American collector of science fiction books and movie memorabilia and a science fiction fan. Ackerman, known as "Forry" or "4e" or "4SJ", is influential not only in the formation, organization, and spread of science fiction fandom, but has long also been a key figure in the wider cultural acceptance of science fiction as a literary, art and film genre. Ackerman is also known as the editor-writer of the magazine Famous Monsters of Filmland, as well as an occasional author, actor, producer (Vampirella), and literary agent.

2009-06-25 [Linn Scarlett]: So many actors and famous people dieying lately... :O

2009-06-25 [Azuri]: Defiantly, I mean it was just yesterday Ed McMan died and Ferrah Fawcett died today O.O

2009-06-25 [Janouk]: And now probably Michael Jackson :-/

2009-06-25 [sequeena_rae]: CCN and Sky news have confirmed his death so I think it's pretty much confirmed.
